Blue Lagoon Villas
PRICE:
Frommer's Exceptional
This complex of villas is often favored by discreetly wealthy residents of the U.S., who come to this resort just as they did in decades past. This is one of the most exclusive resorts in the Port Antonio area, a pocket of low-key posh that evokes the luxury of the late 1950s. Each of the elegantly decorated private villas comes with its own chef, housekeeper, and butler. Villas contain two, three, or four bedrooms, and are each only a 2-minute walk from the Blue Lagoon. Bedrooms are the most stylish in Port Antonio, with an emphasis on privacy and seclusion. All open onto panoramic views of the sea, and all are very spacious. Because the resort attracts lots of media types, each villa has a TV, VCR, and entertainment center with CD player -- not to mention both indoor and outdoor dining areas, sun decks with luxe chaise lounges, and a full kitchen. These are among the most frequently photographed villas in the Caribbean, having appeared in the pages of such magazines as
Town & Country and
Gourmet. Note, however, that you can rent them only by the week, not the night. Nonguests may dine at the hotel's Blue Lagoon Restaurant.
