The historic La Siesta occupies a well-maintained building surrounded by the old mansions of Mazatlán. Inside, three levels encircle a central courtyard; rooms facing the ocean have balconies opening to sea breezes and pounding waves. Guest rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter but less charming; all have two beds, a small table and chair, good lighting, and dependably hot water. For such functional accommodations, there's a surprising array of guest services. A bonus is the popular El Shrimp Bucket restaurant, in the courtyard, where live marimbas and recorded music play until 11pm. This is one of the most popular hotels in Old Mazatlán and fills up quickly. Reservations are strongly advised.
