Set above the high-rise hotels of Ixtapa on a rocky promontory, Las Brisas is the best of Ixtapa's resorts. Notable for its private beach cove and striking stepped architecture, designed by renowned architect Ricardo Legorreta, Las Brisas features large stone and stucco public areas, recently renovated guest rooms with upscale beach decor and oceanview terraces with hammocks, and multitier swimming pools with waterfalls. All rooms face the hotel's gorgeous private beach, which can be accessed by an elevator; although enticing, the water is sometimes rough and can be dangerous for swimming. The six master suites come with private pools, and three floors are reserved for nonsmokers. Beach Club rooms offer upgraded amenities, complimentary cocktails, and continental breakfast. Internet specials are usually available, and guests receive discounts at a nearby golf course.
