Formerly known as Brigham Gardens, this charming place and all its lush gardens, villas, suites, rooms and bungalows stands apart from the rest of South Beach for one reason -- it's the first and only entirely nonsmoking hotel in the area. The newly renovated Spanish Mediterranean-style 1930's villas feature wood-planked vaulted ceilings, fireplaces (just what we need here, though it does add to the cozy ambience), modern stainless-steel kitchens and great lighting. The villas look down upon the spruced up so-called Exotic Hawaiian Gardens and waterfalls. Standard king-sized hotel rooms are nearly the same but without the kitchens. All rooms, of course, have flatscreen TVs, but strangely enough, not all have full length mirrors. If you plan to stay 4 or more nights, check out and check into one of the private bungalows featuring stainless-steel kitchens, bedroom, office, den, and pull out sofa. The bar is a great place for martinis, and the restaurant in the garden serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
