The luxe category hit Fort Lauderdale beach with this Starwood Luxury Hotel property. Sitting on 23 miles of white sand, The Atlantic is a study in minimal modernity -- soothing colors and comfortable, stylish decor. Besides the usual high-tech amenities found in all rooms of this category -- flat-screen TVs, wireless Internet -- The Atlantic boasts something other hotels do not: a star chef hailing from New York City's Tribeca Grill and a five-star restaurant. Trina Restaurant and Lounge comes to Fort Lauderdale, thanks to celebrated restaurateurs Don Pintabona, former executive chef of Tribeca Grill, and Nick Mautone, former managing partner of Gramercy Tavern. The 6,000-square-foot spa isn't too shabby, either. Service is usually stellar, though we've had some complaints of a bit of attitude, but for some die-hard New Yorkers who stay here, that's a plus!
