One of the newer boutique hotels on South Beach, the Catalina reminds me of something straight out of an Austin Powers movie. It's groovy, indeed! Stylish but not at all stuffy, the Catalina is perhaps the only hotel in the area that can pull off using red shag carpeting -- which can use a good scrubbing, actually. The Mod Squad lobby decor gives way to rooms glazed in white with hints of bright colors featuring Tempur-Pedic Swedish Mattresses, 300-thread count Mascioni sheets, goose-down comforters and pillows and, of course, flatscreen TVs. The hotel's Spy Bar and Lounge debuted in late 2005 and fit right into the neighborhood with a jet set-vibe and world renowned chef.
