At press time, they were putting the finishing touches on this swank, $76 million, 80-suite, five-story hotel. With two entrances, one on Ocean Drive and one on Collins Avenue, the beach and nightlife are literally at your doorsteps. Best of all, a branch of L.A. hot spot Table 8, the restaurant helmed by celeb chef Govind Armstrong, is housed here in 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor spaces. Fifty-three suites all have about 500 square feet of indoor space and 225 of balcony space -- 27 spectacular penthouses have retractable awnings and spiral staircases leading to private rooftop terraces coming in at a whopping 600 square feet. All suites have Jerusalem stone floors and entertainment centers with wet bars, fully stocked private bars, and espresso machines. But that's not all. Every suite has floor-to-ceiling sound-proof windows which provide spectacular views of the hustle and bustle of South Beach and, of course, the ocean. Bathrooms are huge with marble floors, granite counter tops, two vanity areas and a huge shower with wall sprays and rain shower. Feather beds, duvets, and goose down pillows make it hard to leave the room, as does the Bose surround sound and two flatscreen TVs. A stunning glass-paneled-bottom pool provides prime viewing of the lounge scene at Table 8 below, and the open-air fitness center with all the latest equipment is a refreshing (temperature controlled) change from the usual stuffy gyms. The Regent Spa provides services in the comfort of your own room, which is almost as convenient as the hotel's on-premise car service that will take you wherever you need to go at no additional cost. For those who insist on working, the wireless Internet connection is even available on your balcony.
