It's a luxury hotel right on Piazza del Duomo, and the whole point here is to book one of the suites -- or one of the few doubles -- that overlook the cathedral's pinnacled flank. Rooms are large and comfortably furnished in a modern style. Duplex suites have rattan furnishings in the sitting area and built-in units in the bedroom upstairs. Two pairs of double rooms share common exterior doors so they can be turned into family suites. The hotel has been slowly expanding in the past few years, and there's a wing of designer apartments and suites inspired by cinema and 20th-century art. Another oddity: The suites and even a few regular rooms come with a few pieces of fitness equipment (mostly an exercise bike; occasionally more).
Facilities: 3 Italian/international restaurants (1 main dinner room, 1 for lunch and quick dishes, 1 intimate); bar; pool, exercise room, sauna at nearby fitness club; concierge; tour desk; car-rental desk; secretarial services; 24-hr. room service; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning (same day); nonsmoking rooms.
