Just across from the Mississippi River, this lovely inn was once an 1893 window shade and blind company; it was converted into an inn in the 1970s. The individually decorated rooms are furnished with offbeat originality. All rooms offer plasma TVs, free Wi-Fi, and freshly baked cookies, and some have Jacuzzis. The Nicollet Island Inn Restaurant is highly recommended (make a reservation), featuring contemporary American cuisine and a selection of over 350 wines; it also serves an excellent Sunday brunch ($30 adults, $12 children ages 6-12, free for children 5 and under). Ask about weekend B&B packages.
