After a successful renovation, this little hotel is now one of the best value inns of Munich, ideal for frugal travelers and popular with young people. The hotel lies on the fringe of central Munich, just a 10- to 15-minute walk to the real heart of the city, although you can also rely on public transportation. Hotel-Pension Schmellergarten is just a short walk from the Oktoberfest grounds, and the subway station is only around the corner from the front door. Rooms are small but comfortably furnished with fresh, crisp linens adorning the beds and reproductions of modern artwork hanging on the white walls. Guests meet fellow guests in the tidy little breakfast room, a friendly oasis.
