This government-rated four-star hotel was once a late-19th-century Jugendstil showplace at the southern precincts of Munich's main railway station. Blasted apart during World War II and rebuilt in a bland angular style, its modern interior retains only hints of its Art Nouveau origins. If you're a railway buff, you may be disappointed that you won't be able to watch trains arriving or departing, but that's overcome by the fact that bedrooms are soundproofed against noise, and are comfortable, contemporary, and suited to the needs of international travelers. As a concession to Munich's unending obsession with folklore, a few of the hotel's bedrooms have Bavarian-style rustic furnishings. All units contain well-kept bathrooms with shower units.
