The previously dispirited aspect of the venerable Whaler's has been banished in recent years. The five structures that constitute the property have all been given fresh fabrics and furnishings, as well as new bathrooms. Best of all (and most expensive) are the eight luxury bedrooms of Hoxie House, all with gas fireplaces and whirlpool baths. Sleigh beds and four-posters are common. Breakfast is taken in the spacious Hospitality Room, which also has an Internet terminal for guest use.
