Frommer's Very Highly Recommended

This charming guesthouse represents one of the gutsiest ventures in the city. Another Katrina victim, their chimney collapsed and 5,000 bricks tore a gaping hole in their top story, causing all kinds of mayhem inside. And yet, it's been fully restored and is a fine and worthy alternative to some of its more costly compatriots. There are pretty custom paint treatments like shadow striping, on top of new molding and chandeliers, and other careful attention to detail. One room has a most inviting fluffy white bed, but its bathroom is contained in a curtained-off corner, while another room has merely partitioned off an area for the same. Those with personal-space and privacy issues might want to head to room no. 3, which is most grand, with a four-poster bed and the nicest bathroom in the guesthouse, complete with a claw-foot tub. All the rooms have wide wooden floorboards. A full breakfast is served, featuring such fun as bananas Foster waffles and sweet-potato-stuffed French toast. They sell artistic glassware (some featured on the breakfast table) and their excellent robes. They worked hard to come back; join them in celebrating.
