Frommer's Very Highly Recommended

A nice little Quarter hotel, better than most (thanks to a combo of location, price, and room quality) though not as good as some (owing to a lack of specific personality). It's generally sedate, except perhaps during Mardi Gras, when the mad gay revelers take over -- as they do everywhere, truth be told. The truly friendly and helpful staff adds a lot of welcoming spirit. If you can score some of the lower-end prices, nab a spot here. Rooms mostly have high ceilings; kings have four-poster beds and slightly more interesting furniture than doubles. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the small courtyard that features a good pool for a dip (though the back gate looks out onto a busy street), and all have the standard amenities of a fine hotel. Note that the Iberville Suite is so large it actually made us laugh out loud -- and we mean that in a good way.
