One of the newest members of the Affinia hospitality group, this Upper East Side property has a residential feel that is true to the neighborhood. Affinia has transformed the hotel into an oasis of tranquility. While the Dumont stresses fitness and the Affinia Manhattan emphasizes the New York experience, Affinia Gardens' theme is serenity. Off the lobby is the lounge, appropriately called \"Serenity,\" a 24-hour quiet zone where you can sit in comfort, sip tea, and unwind. If you choose to relax in your room, you won't be disappointed. You can order, free of charge, a \"tranquility kit\" that includes meditation CDs and books, massage tools, chair massager, and floor pillows. Or you can just lay back on the very comfortable Affinia bed and snooze to the calming natural sound of the ocean, brook, wind, or forest that come with the clock radio/CD player. This is an all-suite hotel and rooms range from junior suites to two-bedrooms; all are generously sized and come with full kitchens. Bathrooms, proportionally, are on the smallish side but well outfitted. Though it's in a good, highly desirable New York neighborhood, the hotel is a bit out of the way from the center of things. But that can be a plus if tranquility is truly what you seek.
