One of the neighborhood's most up-to-date hotels, Relais du Louvre overlooks the neoclassical colonnade at the eastern end of the Louvre. Between 1800 and 1941, its upper floors contained the printing presses that recorded the goings-on in Paris's House of Representatives. Its street level held the Café Momus, favored by Voltaire, Hugo, and intellectuals of the day, and is where Puccini set one of the pivotal scenes of La Bohème. Bedrooms are outfitted in monochromatic schemes of blue, yellow, or soft reds, usually with copies of Directoire-style (French 1830s) furniture. Most rooms are a bit small, but some contain roomy sitting areas.
