This is the park's oldest hotel, built before Torres del Paine was declared a national park, and in need of upgrading. It is located near the Explora Hotel, on an island in Lake Pehoé, and it enjoys the same dynamite view of the Cuernos Formation. However, few of the rooms come with the view because they are mostly located behind the main building in a grove of beech trees; book one with a lake view but not on the footpath. It's an awesome location nonetheless, and it is situated in the middle of the park, cutting down on driving time to either end (the reason for its one star). The guest rooms have been spruced up a bit recently, but they are still too run-of-the-mill for management to charge $160 (£80) for a double during high season. The newer rooms -- 27 through 37 -- are better, but avoid the ones on the footpath as they can be noisy. This is the only hotel in the area with satellite TV in rooms. Guests normally take their meals in the hotel's restaurant, which offers average but edible fare at above-average prices.
