This elegant inn is relentlessly chic and stylishly decorated by its creators (architects and interior designers Messrs Dez, Montemarco, and Jouve). It was originally hailed as "divinely over-the-top." Each room has an individualized decor; and some feature a private terrace or garden. Beds are hung with "waterfalls" of sprigged and striped cotton, mattresses are decadently comfortable, and towels are predictably plush. The villa sits in a large enclosed garden in the heart of town, close to one of the best restaurants, Le Clos de la Violette, and a 5-minute walk from the town center. Despite its grand reputation as a place that requires ironbound advance reservations and where famous people bask in sybaritic anonymity, some of the staff are not as polished as they might be. But that is only a minor distraction in an otherwise well-orchestrated symphony.
