If you don't feel like dropping huge dollars at one of La Jolla's signature hotels but still want some glitz, this property is a nice compromise. Although not in the village, it is within walking distance to the restaurants and the beach at La Jolla Shores (the hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle to both the village and the Shores). This 11-story hotel has 108 rooms, some with balconies; if you want a room with an ocean view, try to get something above the fourth floor. The top floor is occupied by Clay's La Jolla, a pricey restaurant and lounge that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers spectacular views and live jazz.
