Long one of our favorite dining taverns in Santa Cruz, this traditional inn, whose downstairs is hung with cured Andalusian hams and strings of fresh garlic, also offers bargain rooms. During his stay here in 1844, Don José Zorrilla, Spain's most romantic writer of the time, was so inspired by the atmosphere of the inn that he created his famous character, Don Juan Tenorio. Bedrooms are simply furnished and immaculately kept, opening onto one of the barrio's most delightful and time-mellowed squares. Each unit comes with a small bathroom equipped with tub/shower. The rooms are spread across several floors of restored old houses with their tiny patios and bubbling fountains. When you're hungry, just follow the yummy smells to the restaurant downstairs.
