Not to be confused with the Jolly chain, this is an inexpensive hotel on the third floor of a building on the beautiful old Piazza Florio. At the historic center of Palermo, it lies near the pricey Grand Hotel et des Palmes, a few blocks away from Piazza Castelnuovo. Of course, it's hardly comparable to des Palmes, which you might want to visit for a drink or a sumptuous meal. But if you're looking to save money and you don't demand elegance, this hotel, which was renovated in 2003, offers small to midsize guest rooms; they're a bit boxy and furnished simply though comfortably, with compact tiled bathrooms that contain shower-tub combinations. The best units come with small terraces overlooking the square. Convenient to both the port and the modern city, the hotel is also within walking distance of most points of historic interest. Considering its heartbeat location, the Albergo Joli provides a relatively tranquil setting.
