At Rodney Bay, one of the most scenic parts of St. Lucia, this hotel is the more affordable alternative to its newer sibling, Coco Palm. A St. Lucian, Allen Chastanet, operates this informal, laid-back resort. Reduit Beach, one of the best on island, lies only a 5-minute walk from the property. Bedrooms are done in a rather lackluster and clichéd Caribbean style -- think motel -- but are completely comfortable and well maintained. The least expensive rooms face the street, the better units opening poolside. Breakfast is taken poolside, and all of Rodney Bay's restaurants and bars lie close at hand.
