This hotel -- renovated in 2006 -- is in one of St. Vincent's historic buildings. In spite of modern improvements, it still exudes a sense of old-fashioned timelessness you simply won't find in modern resorts. Built of local stone and tropical hardwoods, it served as a warehouse in the late-18th century, and then later provided lodgings for colonial planters doing business along the wharves of Kingstown. Some of the simple and rather small rooms overlook an inner courtyard; others face the street. Room no. 15 is the largest. Although you don't get grand comfort here, the price is hard to beat, and the staff is hospitable.
