For quick getaways on a jet plane in the morning, this is your most serviceable choice at the airport. This three-story hotel lies at Stockholm's Arlanda airport, 39km (24 miles) north of the city. Built in 1993, it's a part of the sprawling SkyCity airport complex that includes banks, travel agencies, restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, and the busiest of the airport's terminals (nos. 4 and 5). Bedrooms are outfitted in one of three distinct styles: Scandinavian modern, Oriental/Chinese, and business-class units with slightly upgraded extras. All rooms contain neatly kept bathrooms with tub/showers. The staff is multilingual, well trained, and hardworking, contributing to the successful day-to-day administration of this minicity where visitors wing in at all times of the day and night from practically everywhere. (We heard so many languages in the lobby we thought we were attending a meeting of the UN General Assembly.) The hotel's SkyCity Bar and Restaurant is the best for food and drink within the airport complex.
