Once inside, the place is calm and comfortable. The clientele is a mix of business, leisure, and religious travelers. A large marina complex separates the building from the beaches, and although views from many guest rooms take in the sea, the Carlton feels more like a city hotel than most of its upscale neighbors. Guest rooms are fresh, insulated from traffic noise, and were totally redone in 2006; there are extra charges for rooms with sea view, and dazzling vistas from the small rooftop swimming pool.
