This beautiful Art Deco hotel, opened in 2001 and part of the well-run Atlas chain, is Israel's most enticingly designed midrange hotel. Once a landmark Bauhaus-style 1930s cinema, the hotel's up-to-the-minute, very comfortable rooms are decorated with specially re-created carpeting, textiles, and furnishings that recall the sets from a Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers classic. You check in at the Cinema's former candy counter, beneath an ultramodern staircase to the mezzanine, and are given a bag of popcorn with your key. A drawback for some is the blare of traffic and music around Dizengoff Square. Quieter rooms at the back are in great demand, but for light sleepers, even a back room with double-glazed windows may not be enough to keep out the Dizengoff din. There are connecting rooms, good for families. A number of rooms have balconies, and there's a rooftop terrace and Jacuzzi overlooking Dizengoff Square.
