This is the only upper-bracket, modern hotel in the Asakusa area, and it looks almost out of place rising 28 stories above this famous district's older buildings. It's a good place to stay if you want to be in Tokyo's old downtown but don't want to sacrifice any creature comforts. The medium-size guest rooms are pleasant, with contemporary furnishings and bay windows that let in plenty of sunshine (and smaller windows that can be opened, a rarity in Tokyo); rooms facing the front have views over the famous Sensoji Temple. Facilities: 4 restaurants; 2 bars; lounge; 20m indoor pool w/retractable roof (fee: ¥3,100/$26/£13); shopping arcade; salon; limited room service (7-11am and 4pm-midnight); in-room massage; same-day laundry/dry-cleaning service; nonsmoking rooms; executive-level rooms.
