This boutique hotel, one of the most charming and atmospheric on the island, opened in 2000 on one of the best beaches in the entire Western Hemisphere, a lyrical crescent of sand ringed by turquoise sea. Point Grace has racked up one award after another since it opened, including a 2005 World Travel Award for the Caribbean's Leading Boutique Hotel, and in a short time has perfected an almost effortless grace. The motif is vintage West Indies, and the services and amenities are first-rate, ranging from twice-daily maid service to midday sorbets on the beach. You can request to be met at the airport in a Rolls-Royce, have a private in-room chef prepare your meal, or have a picnic hamper readied for island excursions. The Thalasso Spa at Point Grace (open daily 9am-6pm) is a full-service on-site spa that offers treatments using sea mud and seaweed, among other delicacies.
The complex features exceptionally spacious one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom suites and penthouses, furnished with Indonesian hardwood and teak and brightened by crisp white Frette linens and African artwork. Hand-painted tile and mahogany grace the bedrooms, and each suite has a beautifully appointed kitchen.
Point Grace is set in the Princess Alexandra National Park, a protected marine reserve on the north coast. The hotel is named for Grace Hutchings, who spent her honeymoon here in a small cottage more than a century ago. Four replicas of Grace's original honeymoon cottage surround a pretty pool and courtyard. On-site is the excellent restaurant Grace's Cottage, perhaps the most romantic spot to dine in the TCI.
