Once the home of a shipwright who emigrated here from Bermuda, this inn -- one of the most historic on the islands -- dates from the early 1800s. Today it's been converted into a small inn with a well-recommended restaurant) and a genial owner. The hotel stands right across the street from a good beach of golden sands. The Salt Raker has a certain rough-hewn charm, and the location can't be beat, but rooms are serviceable at best, especially the downstairs units. The best rooms by far are the upstairs suites, which share a lovely, breezy balcony with hammocks and great sea views.
