This small, personal, unique hotel is a block from the Annapolis Sailing School. You get more atmosphere here than anywhere else in town, far more than at the other historic properties of King's Alley or King Christian. The oldest part of the four-building complex is a historic 1780 Danish town house, and the entire site has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1966. In the 1950s, the hotel became a mecca for writers and artists, including, among others, Noel Coward. New owners have made major renovations, installing more antiques and fine furnishings, and a liberal use of bright color. Each guest room is unique in itself, with the necessary tropical feel, ceiling fans, floral prints, and rattan furnishings. The deluxe rooms are furnished with canopy or iron beds, as well as antiques and artwork.
