A wonderful choice for those who love pampering, the Vail Cascade gets better every time we visit. A $5-million room renovation project has resulted in a decor that we might call "upscale contemporary Rocky Mountain." It includes solid-wood furnishings and woodwork, leather chairs, large desks, granite double-sink vanities, stone tile floors, overstuffed pillows, and pillow-topped mattresses. Both the deluxe rooms (480 sq. ft.), which have the vanity outside the bathing area, and standard rooms (390 sq. ft.) feature bright, bold colors and wooden armoires concealing 27-inch TVs. Suites have 600 to 1,000 square feet in two rooms and most have a king-size bed plus a hide-a-bed. All units boast fabulous mountain or courtyard views; some units have outdoor balconies with tables and chairs. The courtyard entrance is beautifully landscaped, with tall Colorado blue spruce, aspens, and an abundance of flowers in the summer. There are elevators accessing the four floors, and interior corridors everywhere so you never have to go outside until you're ready to ski -- and the Cascade Village chairlift is just outside the door. Of course, there is also a ski concierge on hand to assist. And here is where the pampering gets really serious: The Aria Spa & Club is a 78,000-square-foot spa and athletic club, offering a complete spa experience with 14 treatment rooms, a couple's spa suite, manicure/pedicure stations, aromatherapy steam rooms, and practically every treatment imaginable. Facilities: Restaurant (Chap's); bar; 2 heated outdoor pools; 7 tennis courts (4 indoor, 3 outdoor); state-of-the-art health club and spa; 3 hot tubs (2 outdoor, 1 indoor); sauna; concierge; shopping arcade including sporting-goods stores with rentals and apparel; 24-hr room service; massage; babysitting.
