This 31-story high-rise built in the 1960s has a great location on Robson Street, just a block from the trendier Pacific Palisades and the tonier Listel Vancouver. It's cheaper than those places and has views that are just as good if not better, but it lacks their charm and feels a bit like a high-rise motel. The rooms are fairly spacious, though, and every room is on a corner with wraparound windows, which maximizes the light and the view; every room has a small balcony, too. In 2000, the hotel renovated all its guest rooms, giving them a clean, contemporary look. Bathrooms are on the small side and have tubs with showers. Superior rooms and penthouse suites on the 15th to 30th floors offer breathtaking views looking north toward the mountains or west toward English Bay. If you're ecology minded, book a room on the \"Green Floor,\" which features energy-efficient lighting, low-flow showerheads, and recycling bins. The entire hotel is nonsmoking.
