This 13-story hotel is 2 blocks from the convention center, within walking distance of Penn Quarter restaurants and attractions. (Though not technically "in" the Penn Quarter, the hotel lies close enough to be included.) From the saltwater aquarium on display in the airy lobby to guest rooms that feature a charcoal and chocolate-brown color scheme, fluffy duvets, ergonomic chairs, and lapboard bed trays, this Hampton Inn is a cut above the standard for this particular Hilton brand. Other amenities include an exercise room, an indoor pool and spa, and a Hampton Inn signature perk, the "On the House Hot Breakfast Buffet." Ask for a corner room on the Massachusetts Avenue side, high up, for best city views. In addition to standard king- and queen-size-bed rooms, the hotel has 10 studio suites, 11 two-room suites, and 20 king study suites (the suite holds both a king-size bed and a sofa bed).
