In 2003 Shangri-La emerged from a massive face-lift which enhanced its \"tropical oasis in the city\" ambience. I'm a big fan of Shangri-La, an Asian hotel chain that seeks to create luxury accommodations within lush gardens -- something different from the typically faceless city tower of most urban hotels. Complete renovations to the guest rooms included new carpets, soft upholstered furniture, drapes, and bed linens in bright, natural colors and textures. Flatscreen TVs and broadband access come standard (although Internet usage is extra). Of all the upmarket hotels in the city, the Shang has the most attractive facilities for leisure travelers, with a pretty landscaped outdoor pool and fitness center stocked with the latest equipment.
Facilities: 5 restaurants; outdoor pool; outdoor lighted tennis courts; fitness center w/Jacuzzi, steam, sauna, and massage; concierge; limousine service; salon; babysitting; 24-hr. room service; same-day dry cleaning; laundry service; nonsmoking rooms; executive level rooms.
