Despite its fantastic location, this hotel was doing pretty poorly until they had a feng shui master come in and evaluate it for redecorating. According to the Chinese monk, because the lobby entrance was a wall of flat glass doors that ran parallel to the long reception desk in front, all the hotel's wealth was flowing from the desk right out the doors and into the street. To correct the problem, the doors are now set at right angles to each other, a fountain was built in the rear, and the reception was moved around a corner to the right of the lobby. Since then, the hotel has enjoyed some of the highest occupancy rates in town. Feng shui or not, the new decor is modern, sleek, and sophisticated, an elegant combination of polished black marble and deep wood. Terrace Wing guest rooms invite with plush duvet and golden colors, plus unique glass-enclosed alcoves looking over the hotel gardens. Bathrooms are large, with lots of marble counter space. If you've booked through a travel agent, these are the rooms you'll get. If you make your booking on your own, they'll more likely put you in a Grand Wing room. These are really suites with separate living areas, small walk-in closets, and separate work area. They're very deluxe since a 2003 refurbishment that freshened up the decor. The pool and fitness center are amazing. Located in the center of this city hotel, a four-story waterfall provides the perfect soundscape to match a lush jungle garden hugging the free-form pool and state-of-the-art gym.
Important note: Grand Hyatt no longer publishes a rack rate; rather, it selects the \"best rate\" for the dates of your stay. Below, the rates reflect the average best rates for January 2007.
