If you're tired of unmemorable business hotels, this is a wonderful choice. The stylish Union Bank, built in 1910, now houses an elegant restaurant and intimate boutique hotel. The owner asked Edmonton's top interior designers to each design a room; and the results are charming, with each unique guest room displaying its own style, colors, furniture, and fabrics. All units, however, have the same amenities, including fireplaces, voice mail, feather duvets, and upscale toiletries. Joining the original inn are 20 business-class rooms in a new addition -- each equally idiosyncratic and uniquely designed. The older rooms aren't incredibly big; so if you're in town with work to do, ask for one of the newer and larger units. The restaurant/bar Madison's is a great place to meet friends.
