One of Grenada's best hotels lies on an isolated, beautiful beach at Quarantine Point, near the extreme southern tip of the island. Designed along architectural lines you might expect in Indonesia, the resort consists of 16 thatch-covered, wood-and-stone-sided cottages, each with a small pool, artwork, and fabric-swathed four-poster beds imported from Bali. Bathrooms are light, airy, tropical affairs, often open to the breezes and each containing a shower stall. Scattered up and down a hillside, about 1.5km (1 mile) north of the Port Salines airport, they lie within a 2-minute walk from the beach. The resort's social and architectural centerpiece is a clubhouse larger than the cottages, the site of big verandas, a restaurant, a good-looking bar area, and check-in facilities.
With clients that have included Sports Illustrated swimsuit models and Mick Jagger's ex-wife Jerry Hall, it is a glittery, hedonistic niche with an appealing ironic edge. The restaurant, which is open to nonresidents who phone in advance, is less than 12m (40 ft.) from the beach, and separated from the airy bar by a communal swimming pool.
