This Carlton property comprises two buildings, the 26-story Main Wing and the newer (2002), 19-story Annex Wing next door. Leisure travelers will be most interested in the lower-priced superior and deluxe rooms in the Main Wing. While rooms in both categories are the same size and have all been smartly redone in contemporary neutral tones, deluxe rooms have broadband Internet access in-room, a flatscreen TV, plus marble bathroom decor (superiors are humble ceramic tile). The Annex houses premier deluxe rooms, which, for a premium, feature larger bathrooms with separate bath and shower stall, an in-room safe to fit your laptop, and access to a coin-operated launderette. All public spaces have been upgraded as well, including the lobby entrance, alfresco coffee shop, and a tiny wine and cigar room. The location, in the center of the historic district, is terrific. Ask for a room with a view of the city.
