The Electra, just a few blocks southwest of Syntagma Square on a relatively quiet side street, is the most modern and stylish Plaka hotel. The rooms on the fifth, sixth, and seventh floors are smaller than those on lower floors, but a top-floor room is where you want to be, both for the terrific view of the Acropolis and to escape traffic noise. (Ask for a top-floor unit when you make your reservation. Your request will be honored \"subject to availability.\") Guest rooms here are hardly drop-dead elegant, but they are pleasant and decorated in soft pastels. Don't miss the rooftop pool. The hotel restaurant has become one of the best and most sought after restaurants in town with a view as sublime as the food. Note that the restaurant is closed Sunday, however.
