The Virgin brand's irreverent touch comes to American air travel by way of mood lighting and cashless food purchases on its fleet of Airbus A319s and A320s. Service began in August 2007. Judging from their web site, seats in coach look wafer thin and none too comfortable, leather notwithstanding (and headrests are awkward for some). But the small first-class cabin, with eight 55-inch pitched seats that each have a massage function, looks like a winner. Consider this newbie for your next New York-to-LAX or San Francisco jaunt.
