Located on the premises of the Sunset House Hotel, this is one of Grand Cayman's most dramatically designed bars. Set on a smooth cement platform near the coastline, it's about 1.2km (3/4 mile) south of George Town. Because its two predecessors were swept away by hurricanes, its designers sank its foundations deep into the bedrock and capped it with the highest and most elaborate Polynesian-style thatched roof (it contains an estimated 36,000 palm fronds) on Grand Cayman. Come here for a grandly proportioned and very relaxing indoor-outdoor venue. Many local residents, including lots of Caymanian lawyers, have adopted this bar as their regular hangout and engage in spirited games of dominoes that are followed by many of the bar's patrons. My Bar is especially busy on Friday nights, when the energy level is high. Open Monday to Thursday and Saturday 9am to midnight, Friday 9am to 1am.
