About Face Theatre takes its mission seriously: to promote the creation of new works that examine gay and lesbian themes and experiences. While that often makes for a night of thought-provoking theater, the fare isn't always heavy with social-justice issues. One of the group's big hits was a very campy musical version of Xena: Warrior Princess. Performances are in the upstairs studio at Steppenwolf Theatre.
