Formerly Houston's convention center, this entertainment complex in the heart of the theater district rents space to several venues. It now houses the Aerial Theater, which usually has live music or comedy (call the number above); the Hard Rock Cafe (tel. 281/479-7025), with some live acts on the weekends; Harlon's Bayou Blues (tel. 713/230-0111), with live blues Thursday through Saturday; and Slick Willie's (tel. 713/230-1277), a billiards club. Also, there are a few video and dance bars with canned music that are very popular with a younger crowd. Bayou Place is also home to the Angelika Film Center and Café (tel. 713/225-5232), a popular place to hang out in the evening before going clubbing or to a concert.
