The regular season of the Deutsches Theater lasts throughout the year. Musicals are popular, but operettas, ballets, and international shows are performed as well. It's the only theater in Germany that's also a ballroom. During Carnival in January and February, the seats are removed and stored, replaced by tables and chairs for more than 2,000 guests. Handmade decorations by artists combined with lighting effects create an enchanting ambience. Waiters serve wine, champagne, and food. The costume balls and official black-tie festivities here are famous throughout Europe.
