Hard core beer aficionados need to take the L train to the Williamsburg, Brooklyn to find the city's best and most interesting selection. But you need to know your stuff otherwise the vast offerings, from Smuttynose Portsmouth Lager on tap to Achel Blonde in bottle, will have your head spinning even before your first sip. While you savor that obscure beer from some microbrewery in Idaho, you can listen to an equally eclectic selection of songs from Spuyten Duyvil's fantastic juke box ranging from Lee Scratch Perry to the Earl Hines Trio. If you insist, wine is also served along with cheese and meat platters to go with the beer. But, even better, cross Metropolitan Avenue and take out some of Spuyten Duyvil s sister establishment Fette Sau's barbecue to go with your beer.
