Jungle Montmartre

ADDRESS: 32 rue Gabrielle, 18e
CITY: Paris
COUNTRY: France
PHONE 1: 01-46-06-75-69
This is a slice of the sub-Sahara in Montmartre on a hidden street. Upstairs is an African restaurant where you can order native specialties. For 13€ ($19) you can sample such platters as yassa (sea bream roasted in a citrus sauce) or else taste the national Senegalese specialty, tieboudien, which is fish in a savory sauce with rice and vegetables. Downstairs is a tiny bar with Senegalese sculptures and tiger and leopard designs on the tabletops. Here a hot DJ plays music ranging from reggae to funk, from techno to drum and bass. Open daily 8pm to 2am.
