Tucked away on 500 acres in the Santa Ynez Mountains, just south of bustling Santa Barbara, San Ysidro Ranch was originally a Franciscan mission founded in 1768. It was converted to a citrus farm in the early 19th century, and then into a luxury hotel in the 1930s when actor Ronald Colman and former Senator Alvin Weingand attracted Hollywood A-listers with a pitch-perfect blend of luxury and isolation—and stunning views of the ocean.
