The most common recommendation among our experts was to arrive late in the day. Because most of the other guests have arrived at this point, that’s when hotel staff will be rearranging room assignments and will have the most flexibility to put you in a nicer room. Be aware though, if the hotel is overbooked, this is also the most likely time that you’ll get relocated, or “walked,” to another hotel.
