An upscale casual restaurant with candlelit tables, this establishment has impeccable service. The chef uses extra-fresh ingredients, and all herbs and vegetables are grown locally. For all its attributes, the restaurant -- although popular with savvy locals -- seems to be somehow undervalued and underappreciated, and rarely appears in a guidebook. Yet some of its dishes rival those at the Grove Park Inn. Try, for example, the fresh grilled salmon, the fresh tenderloin, or the duo -- a platter of lamb and marinated grilled venison. Many dishes are nouvelle in style and preparation, and the professional staff is knowledgeable about the extensive wine list.
