Murphy's, a wine-and-cheese shop that evolved into a restaurant and bakery, comprises a cozy warren of rooms. It's one of the most popular places in Atlanta for weekend brunch. The interior is charming and inn-like, with French doors flung open and ceiling fans spinning in nice weather. Up front is the bakery/wine shop, with glass display cases overflowing with pastries, crusty fresh-baked breads, and luscious desserts. At dinner, you'll find a variety of entrees, including sautéed rainbow trout with sweet-potato hash. For lunch, the hefty sandwiches are always winners, especially the crab-cake version with smoky chile mayo; there's a selection of pastas and salads as well. Brunch includes egg dishes, breads, waffles, pancakes, salads, and sandwiches. Murphy's is a popular destination for locals in the surrounding neighborhood, which is full of young professionals who like casual dining. It's a good stop if you're exploring the Virginia-Highland area; if there's a wait, you can kill some time in the nearby shops. Murphy's is also perfect for dessert and coffee, which is otherwise hard to find around here.
